We recommend CAT6 as a base standard for HD distribution and all our products are specified on CAT6. It may be possible to use CAT5E but it may be found that the range of an extender, for example, may be reduced.
Basic CAT5 (CCA type cables) should not be used in any cases for HD distribution as there is not sufficient bandwidth with this type of cable.
