The dual-band access points offer a superior service to the user as the WiFi is transmitted simultaneously on the 2.4GHz band and the 5.8GHz band.
Single-band access points only transmit on the 2.4GHz band and will be a lower cost option as features are more entry-level but there are benefits to a dual-band system and the higher price band:
- Faster broadband speeds – 5.8GHz offers increased speeds and can maximise the potential of your WiFi network.
- Additional network. The 5.8GHz band could be used as a separate network for specific devices if required.
- Suitable for super-fast broadband. Clear Flow dual-band AIR access points (AIR 13 & AIR PROV2) feature a Gb port for broadband speeds above 100Mbps (WAPD features a 10/100 port).
